How bad could Canola Oil be, after all, they said it was safe?
If you use Canola Oil or eat out in a restaurant, then read on. . .
I do not know anyone who does not want to eat right, drink right, and get the right kind of exercise… you know, be healthy. Unfortunately, it seems that you have only been fed bogus information and data on the goodness of Canola Oil. You should be angry, I am.
So what is wrong with CANOLA OIL anyway…?
Many people use for cooking, it is added to butter, used in place of butter, it is in mayonnaise, salad dressing, baked goods, and other processed foods. It is in numerous fast foods, and in a matter of fact, many big fast food chains shout in advertising that they use an alternative to saturated fats and now use “canola oil”.
Personally, I do not eat anything with canola oil… no way, no chance. You should not either.
For the many people that remain to still have high levels of trans-fats in their blood work, even though they claim, not a drop of trans-fats cross their lips….I would highly suggest you look at the foods you are eating and the labels that accompany that food. Why? Because the bottom line, numbers do not lie, and I would highly suspect that the labels on your foods you eat have the culprit- Canola Oil in them. If so, the trash is the most appropriate place for those foods.
Canola Oil FACTS
–It’s advertised and postured it is better than and healthier than Soy, Cottonseed, Safflower and Corn Oil, but it is NOT.
–it is Genetic Engineered, a big red flag. Ever see a canola plant or seed? No, right?
–biochemically, canola oil has higher levels of trans-fatty acids. Higher than soybean and other toxic oils out there.
—-it has higher levels of Omega-3 oils which promotes a long shelf life to prevent the oil from turning rancid cooking at high heat. This is achieved by intense hydrogenation. This means that hydrogen atoms are blasted into the oil which makes it at least 40% Trans-Fatty Acids.
Frequent Consumption of Canola Oil:
- Deplete Vitamin E (impacts chronic disease like heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and cancer.)
- Increases cell wall rigidity (a significant aging factor/diabetes).
- Potential injuries to the heart– induces fibrotic reaction as well as diminishes Vitamin E (essential to combat inflammation).
- Human studies showed Increases incidence of lung cancer and heart damage.
- Shortens lifespan in animal studies, and lowered platelet count while increasing the size of the platelet.
- Canola oil raised Triglycerides by 47%, mindboggling.
The official journal of the United States is the Federal Register. In 1985, it was recorded in that journal that the FDA outlawed canola oil in infant formulas because, canola oil- retards growth.
I am gob-smacked that for over 25 years “they” knew it was real bad for babies and NOW they say it okay for everyone else. Suddenly- really? Where is the logic in this? There is NONE.
Getting the truth out sometimes is quite complex when looking at the complexity of the politics within the food industry, the strong lobbies and the suppression of data from being exposed, many times at a later date, especially when they know it is harmful.
It seems even the regulatory agencies have also been bamboozled and/or have not done their research. Have they been misled to think canola is the answer for the cure? I would bet that no one wants to wager or bet their political careers on changing the oil lobby and have them admit or fix this deadly error. I doubt if it will happen at all. In this regard, if history repeats itself and just how slow things go, think- how long it took to expose the just the dangers of trans-fats in the first place.
These guys, “the authorities”, have even ignored Harvard School of Public Health who reported in as early 1990’s, that there is NO SAFE level of Trans-Fats.
This is shocking to me and should be to you also.
Despite the enormous proof of the dangers of trans-fats reported over 2. 5 decades ago, the FDA still allowed the food industry to put on their labels, ‘NO TRANS FATS’ as long as there was less than 500 mg of trans-fats (1/2 cup)/serving. They ignored the Harvard researchers ‘NO Safe Level’ warning. Trans-fats in your body overwhelmingly change the structure of the cell walls in a negative way that is why it was outlawed in 1985 for use in some foods.
The problem is many people believe what they are told and see in adverts as the truth. Unfortunately, they don’t do the research because if they did, they would know they are being duped.
If you do not get anything out of this article, walk away with knowing that- you do not want to ever eat ANY food with canola oil or hydrogenated oils like soy, cottonseed, safflower and or corn oil- period
Instead, use, good oils like butter, coconut oil, grapeseed, or olive oil that is cold pressed, unfiltered, and extra virgin. These oils are the best for cooking and for salad dressing. Best oils are stored in dark glass bottles; do not buy oils in plastic containers which add to the problem.
In the end, it is your choice. I share this information with you so you can live longer, better and healthier; make more informed better buying decision for you and your families.

Do you eat CHEERIOS, RITZ CRACKERS, OREO, LITTLE DEBBIE, OATMEAL, LUCY’S GF OATMEAL COOKIES…?
Even WHOLE FOODS MARKET “ORGANIC ROUND CRACKERS” have been tested and found amounts of Glyphosates from drift/contamination is making it to organic wheat fields!!!
How horrible is that to have poison sprayed on your foods you feed your Children, Family, and Friends?
If you do eat any of the above, then you are eating GLYPHOSOPHATES residues… Monsanto’s Round-UP!
The top offenders, listed above.
The number one is ‘Cheerios’ at 1,125 ppb. How many of your parents out there give your kids any of the above to snack on? Stop.
Why is this important?
It has been demonstrated that human health is harmed with as little as 0.1 ppb!
It is in your drinking water and it is deemed safe to drink if it is below 700 ppb. Tha is what the FDA set as allowable levels… this is the reason to drink filtered water or even better yet, reversed osmosis water and nothing from the tap which contains neurotoxins too boot (chlorine and fluorine)!
Why is this important? Glyphosates are CARCINOGENIC!
Glyphosates have now made it on the list of a top substance that causes cancer.
Problem is that tt’s consumption- is cumulative.
If it kills weeds, imagine what it is doing to you, your children and those you love.
Solution… buyer beware.
Your very life is at risk!
Protein is one of the most important nutrients you need, whether you are a man or woman, pregnant or not pregnant. Protein an essential building block, so not having enough is not negotiable. Protein requirements vary person to person (age, weight, health goals) and your activity level. You must eat enough protein per day to maintain muscle mass.
Many people think they are eating well enough but the truth is if you are not combining balanced ratios of fats and carbohydrates to the protein. If the ratios are off, then your body either feels like it is starving or ‘completely’ saturated. In either case, over years of poor choices and with any increased “stress” (the number one killer), you end up overweight which puts you at risk for disease you do not want. Diseases like Heart disease, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Cancers and Obesity. Unfortunately, there are a lot more. The ‘one’ thing in common these diseases have is: INFLAMMATION.
So how do you determine ‘your’ Protein requirement?
First, you need to calculate Lean Body Mass (LBM). There are many charts out there and Apps on the internet to assist you to find ‘your’ number. It is easy to find an online calculator to give you yours. In many cases for women for instance, you need to know is your HIP, Abdomen measurements are and your height. And, for men what is necessary is waist and wrist.
To get YOUR base Protein requirement you need to get that LBM number and multiple it by your Activity Level (see chart below). To get the protein units for ‘you’ per day, you need to divide that end number by 7.
If you are doing this by longhand the formula is:
LEAN BODY MASS X ACTIVITY FACTOR = PROTEIN REQUIREMENT in GRAMS
132 LBM x .6= 94.5 gram of protein/day – light activity (divided by 7= 13.5 protein units/day)
132 LBM x .88= 106 grams of protein/day- very activity (divided by 7= 15 protein units/day)
||GRAMS of PROTEIN/LB of LBM
|| 0 .5
|Light Activity (walking)
|Moderate Activity (1.5 hrs/wk)
|Active (1.5-2.5 hrs/wk)
|Very Active (greater than 2.5 hrs/wk)
|Elite Athlete (or training 5x’s+/wk)
It is a mindset to adopt. The goal here is to design your meals so they are balanced between Proteins, Fats and Carbohydrates throughout the day. So, in the example above for the very active person who needed 160 gram of protein or 15 units of protein, you also need to balance it with, 15 units of Fats and 15 units of Carbohydrates.
That sounds like a lot of food…. or so it seems. You graze, small meals throughout the day. You must feed the body the basics and these are the basics minimums. IF you combine foods correctly that are chemically correct for your body, then it utilizes these foods to rid you of inflammation, the root of many diseases and in many case, you get down to your ideal weight and body shape. You would not put 87 octane in a Maserati, right? I would hope not.
And what is the right ratio to begin with?
In the book Mastering The Zone, the ratios that make up 1 balanced unit are:
7grams Protein, to 9 grams of Carbohydrates, to 1.5 grams of Fat.
For proteins it is: 1oz for meat or 1.0z if it is fish; Carbohydrates:1 cup raw vegetable (.5c if cooked) and Fats: 3 almonds, 3 olives, ¼ t of olive oil for example.
A person at this level of 15 Units/day would more than likely schedule eating in the following fashion:
Breakfast -> 3 Units
Snack-> 2 Units
Lunch-> 3 Units
Snack-> 2 Units
Dinner-> 3 Units
Snack-> 2 Units
A typical simple breakfast menu of 3 units could be: 3 egg omelet (protein), 1.5 cups of sautéed vegetables, and 6 0lives (2 fat units) with a splash of Olive oil to cook the eggs. The possibilities are endless.
Please read labels on your food products- it is an eye opener. The ingredients start with the largest amount to the least amount. Also- pay attention to the ‘other’ ingredients if there are any. Many of those can be cancer causing, do your research and make better good lifestyle choices.
The bottom line on how to choose foods that are based on your protein requirement and your health goals. What kind of lifestyle you really are aiming for. In this day and time- buy organic as much as possible and drink water that is as pure as possible.
Barry Sears, PhD, who authored and promoted the Zone diet is a biochemist and researcher. The goal of this diet plan is to stabilize hormonal balance within the body in order to reduce inflammation which is directly related to improved health. The Mediterranean Diet, very similar… same outcome.
For me this is a way of life, a life that afforded me Freedom and living very well. Once you get the aspects of this system down, it is a no-brainer. This is not a big learning curve. My goal here was to offer you possibilities and plant the seed.
This is a synopsis of how you can be in more control of your diet… your first line defense. Food is medicine.

TALKING BACK INTERVIEW with Dr Paula Sperry WOMR Cape Cod- Why LifeStyle Medicine Listen HERE!
A recent study concluded that this essential fatty acid, GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) had anti-tumor function and has minimized numerous kinds of cancer.
Where does GLA naturally occur?
|Black Currant Seed Oil
||Sunflower Seeds (raw)
||Evening Primrose Oil
||Sunflower Seeds (raw)
J.A.Menendez, PhD at the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Research Institute in Illinois observed that GLA significantly reduced Her2/Neu (aka HER-2) protein levels at their expression level at the oncogene, Her2/neu. Oncogene cause normal cells to turn into cancer/tumors and is involved in the development of many types of cancer (human).
So what is a HER-2 anyway? Her-2 is a protein that is found on the surface of breast cells. We all have them. Normal cells contain 2 copies of Her-2 gene and they produce the Her-2 protein.
What does it do? It sends messages to the cell in a substance called ‘growth factor’ which tells the cells to grow and divide. Since everyone has Her-2, the question is whether it is positive or negative? Positive in breast cancer her are called HER2/neu positive cancers and mean there are a lot of Her-2 proteins. Negative means that there are no Her-2 proteins or none and called, HER-2/neu negative cancer. Her-2 positive grow faster than Her-2 negative.
Unfortunately, in 20-30% of invasive breast cancer (an some others like ovarian, bladder) there is an abundant amount of the Her-2 protein produced. Thus, tumors that have these high concentrations of the protein are thus more aggressive and actually resist hormonal therapy, some chemotherapies and a poor prognosis (bad outcome).
GLA Treatment demonstrated a reduced Her’s-2 protein in the Her-2 cells in breast cancer, ovarian cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.
Lab Test that determines positive or negative HER-2 is: HUMAN EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR.
